Yritin vähän vilkuilla noita uusia VAT-säädöksiä, joita tulee Discogsiin. Eli Discogs alkaa keräämään verot jos myy EU-Iso-Britannia -välillä. Aikovat varmistaa, että veroja ei tarvitse maksaa kahta kertaa. Katsoin noita ehkä 3 minsaa ja mietin, että tilaan ihan kaiken Saksasta ja muualta EU-alueelta. Toisaalta tää on ollut selviö jo pitkään.

Interpreting complicated tax regulations is never an easy task. The changes to the EU and UK VAT laws have created a complex set of rules that we are working hard to interpret for the Discogs community. We may have caused some confusion or concern in an earlier email communication about our new EU and UK supply of goods VAT services, especially with respect to intra-EU and intra-UK orders. Please read on for a clarification of how we are handling intra-EU and intra-UK supply of goods VAT.

Discogs will not be assessing VAT on intra-EU or intra-UK orders beginning on July 1st, as our original announcement suggested. Discogs will only assess supply of goods VAT (import VAT) on orders to be imported into either the EU or UK by sellers located outside those countries. Discogs will assess VAT on these orders because, as a marketplace facilitator and deemed supplier, we are responsible for collecting, reporting on, and remitting supply of goods VAT on goods imported into either the EU or UK.

Discogs is actively working to provide EU and UK sellers with the ability to select the countries in which they wish to collect VAT on intra-EU and intra-UK orders. Providing this service will allow sellers to manage their VAT responsibilities directly themselves. VAT regulations are very complicated, as a result we strongly encourage our sellers to seek advice from their tax advisors to determine where they are responsible for collecting VAT when selling to intra-EU and intra-UK buyers.

In an effort to support our community located in Northern Ireland, we have updated the Discogs supported country list to include Northern Ireland, and are also adding Northern Ireland to our new tax ID validation services.

If you are located in Northern Ireland as either a Discogs buyer or seller, please take a few moments to review the following actions and to update your settings and location in your Discogs account, as appropriate to your particular situation:

If you have a valid tax ID for Northern Ireland, you may save it in your Settings.
If you are a buyer located in Northern Ireland, please be sure to update your Shipping Address country in your Buyer Settings. You may select Northern Ireland from our drop down list.
If you are a seller located in Northern Ireland, please be sure to update your Ships From country in your Seller Settings. You may select Northern Ireland from our drop down list.
For now, shipping policies will map Northern Ireland to UK shipping policies. In the near future, we plan to provide you with the option to segment Northern Ireland out for any unique shipping policy plans you may require.
