Re: MMA
Strikeforce heavyweight champion (cough) Alistair Overeem (30-11) will make his previously scheduled appearance at DREAM 12 on Oct. 25 against former PRIDE heavyweight bruiser James Thompson (14-10), according to MMA Fanhouse.
Yes, the same James Thompson who was stopped by Kimbo Slice at Elite XC: “Prime Time” in 2008 and yes, the same James Thompson who’s dropped four straight and eight of his last ten.
Looks like another quick pit-stop on the Overeem World Tour. Pull the bus over, recycle a few cans, continue heading East.
Rinse and repeat.
Following a hand injury that booted him from two summer events, Strikeforce officials informed MMAmania.com last month that “Demolition Man” was expected to make separate appearances outside of the San Jose-based promotion prior to defending his belt.
One of those stints involved a trip to the K-1 World Grand Prix 2009, the other was for Golden Glory in his native Amsterdam, where he bulldozed the hapless Tony Sylvester on Oct. 17.
Following his bout with “The Colossus,” as well as the remaining fights in K-1, Overeem is expected to return to Strikeforce to defend his heavyweight title (cough).
And with Brett Rogers, Fabricio Werdum and Fedor Emelianenko all gunning for first dibs, don’t expect him to receive a very warm welcome.

Re: MMA
Lol.

Re: MMA
Miten vitussa Thompson pääsee edes lääkärintarkastuksista läpi? Sillähän tärisee pää ihan Michael J. Fox tyyliin.

Re: MMA
Rolles Gracie (3-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC), part of MMA's legendary Gracie clan, has signed a multi-fight deal with the UFC and is expected to meet fellow heavyweight Mostapha Al-Turk (6-5 MMA, 0-2 UFC) at UFC 109 in February.
Gracie and his management team announced the signing via Twitter on late Tuesday.
Although not officially announced by the organization, UFC 109 is expected to take place Feb. 6 in Las Vegas.
Gracie, the son of Rolls Gracie (who's uncle was Helio Gracie), made his pro debut in 2007 with the International Fight League. The second-degree Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt defeated Sam Holloway via submission but wouldn't fight again for nearly two years.
Gracie returned with the China-based Art of War promotion this year and moved his record to 3-0 with a pair of additional submission victories over Baga Agaev in May and Peter Graham in September.
He now meets Al Turk, who's likely fighting for his life in the UFC. The former Cage Rage fighter lost to Cheick Kongo at UFC 92 in his octagon debut, and six months later, fought late replacement Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic at UFC 99. Aided by an illegal (but accidental) eye poke, Filipovic posted a first-round TKO victory.
Al Turk had won six of seven fights (all via first-round stoppage) prior to the back-to-back losses.

Toivottavasti Evansin tiimi voittaa jokaisen matsin.

Re: MMA
"We're at a stalemate right now," White said. "The money that [Henderson] is asking for would make him by far the highest-paid guy in the UFC."
- Dana White speaking to MMAJunkie about the Dan Henderson contract negotiations.
If this is true it's an amazing revelation. Dan Henderson has never proven to be a huge draw and we can't accurately gauge where he stands in the eyes of the PPV drawing public after his stint as a coach on The Ultimate Fighter since the blow-off fight for the season was on the loaded UFC 100 card.
Dana goes on to explain that Dan is welcome back to the UFC but only on the contractual terms that the UFC offered. Also, White ran into Hendo's lawyer and Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker having dinner together in L.A. It's hard to believe that if money is truly a motivating factor in Dan's decision making process that Strikeforce will be able to offer the kind of deal that the UFC can. We'll just have to continue to monitor the situation and see where it leads.
While I put a lot of blame on Anderson Silva for the middleweight mess yesterday, it'd be dishonest of me to not admit that Hendo may be deserving of a good chunk of blame when it comes to his own situation.
