Jahas. Johnsonin porukka on sitä mieltä, että parlamenttiedustajia ei äänestytetä siirtymäkauden pidentämisestä, vaan neuvottelut ovat klaari vuoden 2020 lopussa.

The answer to that is a simple no. We aren’t extending the implementation period. There is no reason whatsoever why we will not secure a deal by that date. Both the UK and the EU are committed to reaching a trade agreement by that date and that is what we are going to do.

Entinen oikeusministeri David Gauke (yksi parlamenttiryhmästä pois potkitusta 21 edustajasta) sanoo, että se tietää sitten kovaa Brexitiä ja WTO:n kauppaehtoja vuodesta 2021:

The Brexit Party is facing disarray after it emerged Nigel Farage has lost a reported 20 of his own candidates - and a key donor.

The shock jock former UKIP chief is grappling with a backlash after announcing he would take on the Tories in every seat in the country unless Boris Johnson dumps his Brexit deal.

Critics claim the move could make Brexit LESS likely because it would split the Leave vote. Meanwhile Mr Farage is not standing for election himself.

Sori sori, puhelimella ei osaa kätevästi kuin heittää linksun. Mut tossaha se tuliki, että brexit-bileestä hävii ehdokkaita ja rahotusta, kun Nigelin linja kovistella Johnsonia ei pure, vaan pelottaa että äänestämällä brexit-partyä koko brexit kosahtaa.

I didn’t think twice when I was asked to become the Guardian’s political sketch writer. Not only was it a huge honour to follow in the footsteps of so many great writers, such as Norman Shrapnel and Simon Hoggart, but what better job could there be for a satirist and lifelong politics nerd? Yet in February 2014, I imagined it would be a niche slot. Centre-stage, certainly, for the big set pieces of elections and budgets, but otherwise strictly for obsessives like me who could find humour in exchanges over proposed improvements to the Kettering bypass at transport questions on a Thursday morning.

Yet almost from the day I started, it was as if our politicians had chosen to overdose on psychedelics. The surreal rapidly became the all too real. Sketches that used to be comedic diversions, lighthearted puncturing of pomposity, incompetence and duplicity through exaggeration and flights of imagination, became almost straightforward reportage. I didn’t have to make anything up, I just had to more or less write down what people said and claim the laughs for myself. A transcription service, if you like.

Corbynin brexit-strategia on myös ennen vaaleja ollut tämä aidalla tasapainoilu. Sai puoluekokouksessakin juntattua remain-aloitteiden paineesta huolimatta läpi kannan että ei vahingossakaan oteta kantaa. Topikissa esitetyt kannat jakautuvat muutaman corbynistan fanituksesta enemmistön voi vittu nyt taas jezza -päivittelyyn. Itse kuulun topikin enemmistöläisiin.

Vaaleissa takamatka lienee tällä kertaa aivan liian iso kirittäväksi, mutta 2017 puolijytkäytys oli kuitenkin sekin sen verran yllättävä, että itse vältän tällä kertaa haukkumasta Labourin kampanjaa ennen kuin se on edes avattu
