Most of you surely remember this fantastic band that had, as only vinyl release, 3 songs on the cult MASTER TAPES vol. 2 compilation double LP, released in 1983.

Among FRONT LINE, IDIOT SAVANTS, ZERO BOYS, NO LABELS, MECHT MENSCH, VIOLENT APATHY, TAR BABIES, WASTED TALENT, and more, MALIGNANT GROWTH from Louisville, KY, was one of the best bands on this compilation with their fast and crushing punk/hardcore.

These three songs, "Hopeless", "Killing time" and "Tired of life" actually come from a 6-songs session recorded in 1983. This demo has been reviewed by Tim Yohannan in Maximum Rock'n'roll (issue #7, July/August 1983) :

"A good tape with original, intense thrash. The lyrics are pretty dark and depressing, but somehow they don't crush you down, maybe because they're obliterated by the screaming fuzzed-out guitar.

By the way, this demo has stayed unfindable in the tape trading communauty, and that fact is a pity considering that the best songs are the unreleased songs of this demo that are not on the MASTER TAPES compilation: "Nobody cares", "Bad attitude" and "Democracy" are total "hits", meaning exactly what hardcore SHOULD be.

This is one of the most essential punk/hardcore recording from the 80's in USA, but also in the International scene. Don't waste your time looking for this demo for download on blogs or P2P, that's really one of the rarest punk/hardcore recording and also one of the best !

In spite of this excellent feedback and killer music, the band never released a proper release under the name of MALIGNANT GROWTH. They later changed their name to FADING OUT, playing darker and louder music.

27 years later, WHO CARES? records finally gives what deserves this wonderful recording : an official release on vinyl. The 7 inch is pressed as usual one-time at 300 numbered copies : 50 first on limited cover (SOLD OUT!) and 250 on regular cover.

The demo is taken from an original cassette source that has been remastered in studio (thanks to Hervé CARAMANIS and Andrzej GETKA for their help about getting this demo).
