"The New Hope" to be re-issued with bonus tracks?
Just heard a couple days ago that Tom Dark is planning to re-issue the legendary 1983 compilation album, "The New Hope" on CD with many previously unreleased bonus tracks!
For anyone who doesn't know, Tom is Scott Eakin's older brother and was also the singer of Cleveland punk masters Knifedance, Stepsister, and The Dark. He also is an author and an all-around getting-shit-done kind of guy- something I've always respected him for.
"The New Hope" was released in 1983 and featured 11 hardcore, punk, and underground bands from the northeast part of Ohio, centering on Cleveland and Akron. The comp featured The Guns, Agitated, Zero Defex, Starvation Army, Spike in Vain, The Offbeats, and more.

Few would argue that CIA’s “God Guns Guts” 7” EP is one of the best US hardcore singles to ever be released. Originally self-released in 1983, the six songs on the original 7” are absolutely flawless blasts of driving, intelligent, and furious hardcore. What could be better than this? A deluxe reissue that adds 5 original 7” session outtakes that have never been heard until now along with several other previously unreleased essential demos recorded just before the 7” came out. This all comes housed in a high-quality package featuring a UV laminated sleeve, printed inner sleeve that features relevant information and photos.

Negative Approach: "Friends of No One"

Negative Approach have posted three songs from their upcoming 7-inch, Friends of No One. The 7-inch and CDEP is due out on Taang! Records and actually represents material recorded in 1984 but (officially) released for the first time this year.

Check out the title track as well as "Genocide" and "I Got a Right" from the EP on their MySpace page.

The band's 10-Song EP is being reissued on October 12, 2010 by Touch and Go Records.
