Oululaisen Boarin toinen LP jatkaa johdonmukaisesti kehittyen siitä, mihin vuoden 2015 Veneficae pysähtyi. Musiikissa yhdistyvät doom metal, stoner ja psykedeliset elementit luontevasti ja omaperäisesti ja jopa entistäkin dynaamisemmin. Yhtyeellä on oma selkeä polkunsa, jota pitkin se tarpoo verkkaisesti mutta tarkasti, ilman harha-askeleita tai teennäisiä kokeiluja. Vaikka musiikin takaa kuultaa pitkä ja huolellisesti harkittu prosessi, niin se ei tee levystä millään lailla särmätöntä tai ennalta-arvattavaa. Päin vastoin, musiikissa on taas uutta tenhoa ja tuoreutta. Tehoa, vääntöä ja kurvejakin löytyy varmasti riittävästi niistä nauttiville.

Levyn on viiden lafkan yhteisjulkaisu, niistä ainoa suomalainen on Rämekuukkeli-levyt. Levyn nauhoitti ja miksasi Tom Brooke Tonehaven Studiolla keväällä 2017. Brad Boatright hoiti masteroinnin samana kesänä Audiosiege Studiolla Portlandissa. Kokonaispainos 500 kpl. Vihreä vinyyli.

Three years after Venificae, Boar is back with a new album. The opportunity to find intact the mixture of stoner, doom and sounds more psychedelic darling by these Finnish wild boars. Poseidon has so many elements similar to the previous album but is not in any case the repetition!

As on the previous album, the styles cohabit and complement each other ideally in a permanent groove. We are mainly in a heavy stoner sludge optics but who often likes to leave his pieces in more experimental phases, even psychedelic. The vocalist sums up all by himself this tendency of opening at Boar, leading the boat with charisma, whether in clean version as in version snarling (verifiable from the title track-opening).

Sailing at will according to the storms, the Poseidon is thus worth especially by the balance found between the styles by the Danish. These sometimes include some interesting phases such as the disturbing intro post rock of "Shahar's Son", "Dark Skies" with his sequencing of the solo with the arrival of a dry guitar and clean vocals counterbalancing his rough first part, or the multiple states of the huge "Totally Out Of This World" from overwhelming riffs to exciting acceleration, in short there is still a lot of things around these big purr riffs shaped whiskey.

Poseidon is a beautiful confirmation for these young Danish who, without compromising their habits stoner / sludge we deliver a very personal, groovy and dirty at the same time, not very far from what produces High On Fire. A winning return!

Joo, näin on nykyään. Teetettiin semmoinen helvetin kallis markkinointitutkimus, jonka perusteella muutettiin bändi tanskalaiseksi. Menee levyt paljon paremmin kaupaksi ja arviotkin pelkkää suitsutusta.
