Shit! You would surely think they’d be scraping the bottom of the late 70s / early 80s barrel by now, but behold! Svart records still managing to strike GOLD and resurface with this furthest reaching collection of Finnish bedroom beatdowns! Billed as sporting experimental new wave / art-punk, ‘Polya” totally goes above and beyond that quota, as well as setting a new, highest watermark for any sorta underground trawling collection. In the pandemonium of no coffee (BAD) and the glaring, nerd-punk compilation info-overdose (GOOD - 44 page booklet!) that we are faced with here, we’re not even sure what side we’ve stuck on first. Already, we’ve nosedived into mystical, late 70s FX-drenched prog, that heavily recalls that weighty Archaia LP, as well as untraceable, melody driven, drum machine backed mess arounds that feel in line with those killer Die Weltraumforscher collections on Planam. Already totally addicted to this one.
