Carousel shows the everyday life of a suburb in Helsinki. The film could be described as neorealism; it’s a movie where seemingly nothing happens. At the same time it’s a documentation of the flip-side of a welfare state. It depicts a Finland most people aren’t aware of or don’t want to acknowledge.
