Rakastan sitä kuinka täysin ilman minkäänlaista itsetutkiskelua ja tajua politiikan realiteeteista lähdetään taistelemaan presidentivaalikampajan avantekijöitä eli somemainontaa kohtaan. Jos noita firmoja lähdetään pilkkomaan niin saattaapi nää firmat keksiä keinoja joilla tehdään Trumpin vaalimainostelusta somen kautta aika hankalaa ja se olis nyt elintärkeetä varsinkin korona-aikana jo.

Trump to 'sign executive order about social media'

US President Donald Trump will sign an executive order on social media firms on Thursday, the White House has said.

It comes after he threatened to shut down social media platforms he accused of stifling conservative voices.

The latest dispute flared on Tuesday after Twitter added fact-check links to his tweets for the first time.

The order's details have not been shared and it is unclear what regulatory steps the president can take without new laws passed by Congress.

The White House officials gave no further information when questioned by reporters who were travelling with Mr Trump on Air Force One on Wednesday.

Before leaving Washington for Florida to watch a space launch that was postponed due to bad weather, Mr Trump again accused Twitter and other social media of bias, without offering evidence.

Mr Trump also continued his criticism of social media platforms on Twitter, ending a tweet with: "Now they are going absolutely CRAZY. Stay Tuned!!!"

The long-running dispute between Mr Trump and social media companies flared up again on Tuesday when one of his posts was given a fact-check label by Twitter for the first time.

He had tweeted, without providing evidence: "There is NO WAY (ZERO!) that Mail-In Ballots will be anything less than substantially fraudulent."

Twitter added a warning label to the post and linked to a page that described the claims as "unsubstantiated".

On Wednesday Mr Trump threatened to "strongly regulate" or even "close down" social media platforms.

He tweeted to his more than 80 million followers that Republicans felt the platforms "totally silence conservatives" and that he would not allow this to happen. In an earlier tweet, he said that Twitter was "completely stifling free speech".

Twitter's chief executive Jack Dorsey responded to criticism of the platform's fact-checking policies in a series of posts, saying: "We'll continue to point out incorrect or disputed information about elections globally."

Mr Trump wrote a similar post on Facebook post about mail-in ballots on Tuesday, and no such warnings were applied.

In an interview with Fox News on Wednesday, Facebook's chief executive Mark Zuckerberg said censoring a social media platform would not be the "right reflex" for a government concerned about censorship. Fox said it would play its full interview with Mr Zuckerberg on Thursday.

Twitter has tightened its policies in recent years as it faced criticism that its hands-off approach was helping fake accounts and misinformation to thrive.

Some of America's biggest technology companies have also been accused of anti-competitive practices and violating their user's privacy. Apple, Google, Facebook and Amazon face antitrust probes by federal and state authorities and a US congressional panel.

Shares in both Twitter and Facebook fell in Wednesday's trading session in New York.

Facebook, Twitter and Google did not immediately reply to requests from the BBC for comment.

Tässä on hyvät ainekset perustuslailliseen kriisiin. Se on kyllä hyvä kun 2nd amendment on niin tärkeä, mutta 1st amendmen unohtuu täysin. Sitäpaitti sitä toista lisäystä tulkitaan aina lähinnä aseoikeuksien hyväksi, vaikkei se sanamuoto niin sano.

President Trump is preparing to sign an executive order Thursday that could roll back the immunity that tech giants have for the content on their sites, according to two people familiar with the matter.

Trump’s directive chiefly seeks to embolden federal regulators to rethink a portion of law known as Section 230, according to the two people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe a document that could still evolve and has not been officially signed by the president. That law spares tech companies from being held liable for the comments, videos and other content posted by users on their platforms.

The law is controversial. It allows tech companies the freedom to police their platforms for abuse without fear of lawsuits. But critics say those exceptions have also allowed some of Silicon Valley’s most profitable companies to skirt responsibility for the harmful content that flourishes on their online platforms, including hate speech, terrorist propaganda and election-related falsehoods.

...“In a country that has long cherished the freedom of expression, we cannot allow a limited number of online platforms to hand-pick the speech that Americans may access and convey online,” according to an undated draft version of the executive order obtained by The Washington Post late Wednesday.

...The executive order has gone through multiple iterations in recent years, and it may still change, the people said. The order would task the Commerce Department with petitioning the Federal Communications Commission to open a proceeding on Section 230.

...Until this week, Trump had issued only threats to regulate or penalize Facebook, Google-owned YouTube and Twitter over a range of claims, even suggesting at one point that the industry tried to undermine his election. Previously, however, the White House has backed down, even shelving prior versions of its executive order targeting social media companies.

...That same month, the Justice Department opened a wide-ranging review of the tech industry, which since has blossomed into a full inquiry on Section 230. Repeatedly, Attorney General William P. Barr has raised the possibility that the U.S. government could seek changes to the rules. “No longer are tech companies the underdog upstarts,” Barr said in a speech this February, reflecting on the origin of the statute. “They have become titans.”

Republican lawmakers also say that Facebook, Google and Twitter should be held accountable for perceived political bias, a call echoed by White House officials.

Meanwhile, in the wake of the fact-check label applied to Trump’s tweet, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg engaged in a public battle over censoring content late Wednesday.
