Miljardilla dollarilla rakennettaisiin CNN:n mukaan muuria San Diegon alueelle ja Rio Granden laaksoon.

Yhdysvaltain presidentin Donald Trumpin hallinto haluaa, että Meksikon vastaiselle rajalle kaavailtua muuria varten myönnettävä ensimmäinen miljardin dollarin rahoituserä kattaa sadan kilometrin matkan. Asiasta kertoo CNN verkkosivuillaan.

Valkoinen talo pyysi lisäbudjetissaan 999 miljoonaa dollaria puolustus- ja rajaturvallisuutta varten. Kotimaan turvallisuudesta vastaavan viraston asiakirjojen mukaan se kattaisi vain 77 kilometriä uutta muuria ja osa rahoista menisi jo olemassa olevan aidan korvaamiseen.

Asiakirjoista ilmenee tarkalleen, millä tavalla hallinto pyrkii käyttämään ensimmäisen rahoituserän. Tavoitteena on rakentaa 22,5 kilometriä uutta muuria ja 22,5 kilometriä korvaavaa aitaa San Diegon alueelle sekä 45 kilometriä rantavalliesteitä ja 10 kilometriä uutta muuria Rio Granden laaksoon.

CNN:n lähteen mukaan aidat sisältäisivät todennäköisesti betonielementtejä.

Muuri oli yksi Trumpin tärkeimmistä kampanjalupauksista ennen viime vuoden vaaleja. Miljardööri väläytteli jopa panevansa Meksikon maksamaan sen.

Hallinto pyysi vuodelle 2017 miljardi dollaria ja vuodelle 2018 2,6 miljardia dollaria rajainfrastruktuuria ja -teknologiaa varten.

Karkeat arviot muurin kokonaishinnasta ovat vaihdelleet 12 miljardista dollarista yli 20 miljardiin dollariin.

Sex Pistols and PiL frontman John Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten) has defended Donald Trump, Brexit, and Nigel Farage in a new interview.

The punk rock icon appeared on ITV’s Good Morning Britain earlier today (March 27) to promote his new book Mr Rotten’s Songbook. In the interview, he told presenters Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid that he had a “fantastic” encounter with Farage after the ex-UKIP leader and Bob Geldof both led opposing flotillas up the Thames. “I wanted to shake his hand because it was silly beyond belief,” Lydon said.

On Brexit, he added: “The working class have spoken and I’m one of them and I’m with them.” (As an aside, Lydon’s famous line “Ever get the feeling you’ve been cheated?” could become an appropriate slogan once the UK starts feeling the effects of Brexit.)

Finally, he described Trump as a “complicated fellow”, saying that “what I dislike is the left-wing media in America are trying to smear the bloke as a racist and that’s completely not true. There are many, many problems with him as a human being but he’s not that and there just might be a chance something good will come out of that situation because he terrifies politicians.”

He added: “This is a joy to behold for me. Dare I say, (he could be) a possible friend.”

Though it’s easy enough to see why someone so famously anti-establishment might be drawn to politicians who also portray themselves as anti-establishment ‘men of the people’, Lydon’s public statements would suggest that the substance of Trump and UKIP’s politics differ fairly sharply from his own. Just a few days ago, for example, Lydon was discussing his belief in a one-nation state, describing how borders create divisions. A few years earlier, he was also calling UKIP “a black hole for the ignorant to fall into” and saying that “their talk about immigration is subdued racism”.

One morning in the mid-1990s, Mark Mulvoy was on the sixth hole of Long Island’s Garden City Golf Club with Donald Trump when the skies opened, and they ducked for cover under a nearby awning. The rain let up a few moments later, and Mulvoy, then the managing editor of Sports Illustrated, returned to the green. When he got there, he found a ball 10 feet from the pin that he didn’t remember seeing before the storm.

“Who the hell’s ball is this?” he said.

“That’s me,” the real estate mogul said, according to Mulvoy.

“Donald, give me a f---ing break,” Mulvoy recalls telling him. “You’ve been hacking away in the . . . weeds all day. You do not lie there.”

“Ahh, the guys I play with cheat all the time,” he recalls Trump replying. “I have to cheat just to keep up with them.”

It’s a story that the current Republican front-runner hotly denies. “I don’t even know who he is,” Trump said when asked about Mulvoy’s account.“I don’t drop balls, I don’t move balls. I don’t need to.”

...“The worst celebrity golf cheat?” the rock star Alice Cooper said in a 2012 interview with Q magazine. “I wish I could tell you that. It would be a shocker. I played with Donald Trump one time. That’s all I’m going to say.” (“I’ve never played with Alice Cooper,” Trump said. “That’s a terrible thing to say about people, especially me.”)

...“Golf is like bicycle shorts: It can reveal a lot about a guy,” said Rick Reilly, the sportswriter who hit the links with Trump for his 2004 book “Who’s Your Caddy?” — in which Reilly lugged clubs for several of the world’s best golfers and VIP amateurs.

As for Trump? “When it comes to cheating, he’s an 11 on a scale of one to 10,” Reilly said.

Reilly told The Washington Post about an afternoon when Trump wrote down scores he didn’t actually achieve on his scorecard, conceded putts to himself by raking the ball into the hole with his putter rather than striking it properly (“He rakes like my gardener!”), and even called a gimme — something a player might claim for a two-foot putt — on what should have been a chip shot.

“He took the world’s first gimme chip-in,” Reilly said. At one point, Trump, after taking a number of second shots, told Reilly to “make sure you write that I play my first ball. You don’t get a second ball in life.” In life, it may or may not be true that a person gets a second chance; and yet, as Reilly wrote, on holes 1, 13 and 17, Trump did indeed get a second ball.

Trump disputes Reilly’s entire story as well: “I always thought he was a terrible writer,” he said. “I absolutely killed him, and he wrote very inaccurately. I would say that he’s a very dishonest writer. . . . I never took a gimme chip shot. . . . I don’t do gimme chip shots. If I asked his approval, that’s not cheating, number one. Number two, I never took one.”

...Jonathan Carr spent the 2007 and 2008 golf seasons caddying at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J. He remembers a gregarious club owner who treated the caddies with the utmost respect, a man who, despite lacking a “pristine” golf swing, played with a high level of skill and an even higher level of confidence. Carr never saw Trump come close to bending the rules, although he said everyone who caddied there had heard of that reputation.

“The caddies would say, ‘If I get on his bag, I’m going to make sure he always has a good lie,’ ” Carr said, meaning that even if Trump shanked a ball, the caddies would do what they could to place it on the fairway.

And judging by Trump’s own account, he’s had plenty of good lies. He said he holds the amateur record on his own golf course in West Palm Beach, Fla., a 66. In a story about celebrity golf handicaps, Forbes reported that his is a 4 but noted they have yet to see “a real signed scorecard.”

...The only other person that Reilly remembers cheating as much as Trump? None other than Bill Clinton.

BREAKING: CBS News Uncovers Deep Mike Pence/Russia Connection – Buckle Up

Despite all the controversy swirling around various Trump campaign members and their links to Russia, Vice President Mike Pence’s Russian connection should not be over-looked.

When former Trump campaign chairman, Paul Manafort’s Russian ties were discovered by the media he immediately resigned. Once again the Trump campaign is making headlines as more news about Paul Manafort and various members of the Trump administration emerge and show clear links to Russia.

Where does Mike Pence come into play? Well, according to New York Post, Donald Trump had plans to ask New Jersey Governor Chris Christie to run as his vice president but ended up asking Indiana Governor Mike Pence, after Paul Manafort insisted he give him further consideration.

CBS News further begs that we take a closer look at Mike Pence, agreeing with New York Post, saying:

‘Manafort had arranged for Trump to meet with his first choice for the job on July 13: Indiana Governor Mike Pence. Afterwards, the plan was for Trump and Pence to then fly back to New York together and a formal announcement would be made, a campaign source said of Manafort’s thinking.’

‘What had previously been reported as a “lucky break” by the New York Times was actually a swift political maneuver devised by the now fired campaign manager. Set on changing Trump’s mind, he concocted a story that Trump’s plane had mechanical problems, forcing the soon-to-be Republican nominee to stay the night in Indianapolis for breakfast with the Pence family on Wednesday morning.’

‘Swayed by Pence’s aggressive pitch, Trump agreed to ditch Christie and make Pence his VP the following day, according to a source.’

Back in October The Young Turks addressed the fact that Trump’s first pick for VP was not Pence, and Manafort manipulated the situation:

Other reports showed that Manafort’s reach went much further that just the VP pick, and extended to advising Donald Trump on several of his cabinet picks.

A source told The Daily Beast:

‘I think he’s weighing in on everything. I think he still talks to Trump every day. I mean, Pence? That was all Manafort. Pence is on the phone with Manafort regularly.’

‘A guy like Manafort tries to make sure that the government is as comfortable for business as possible. He wants names he knows on every door.’

With the focus being brought back to the Trump campaign/Russian connection, and the FBI revealing evidence that links Trump’s associates, past and present, to the Russian government it’s time to remember that the man at the middle of it all, Paul Manafort, hand picked Mike Pence to be Vice President. The next in line, should anything happen to the volatile president of the United States, was planted there by a man who has undeniably suspicious Russian ties.

Although, for the most part, Mike Pence has manage to stay out of the spotlight for some of the more recent negative news where Trump is concerned, his role should be looked at closer.
